7th and 8th Grade Strength & Conditioning

Coach Gajewski is asking athletes and families of athletes who participate in morning lifting to sign up for schedule updates. This will allow Coach to notify everyone when the weight room will be closed. To sign up, download the Remind App and enter the class code: 64gk3g

Sources of Strength Peer Leaders have been busy getting their first campaign to spread hope, help, and positivity out! This month, they were able to roll out an activity for their peers to help them define and identify their 8 sources of strength and hang them on their lockers.  Additionally, the Sources peers helped their peers identify their trusted adults at RV to normalize help seeking behaviors!  They did this by painting pumpkins in the colors of the strengths. Family Support, Positive Friends, Mentors, & Mental Health.  Students wrote their trusted adult on the painted pumpkins during lunch and then entered a raffle for Sources Prizes.  Fun was had by all!

and

...are teaming together this year for the annual food drive!  Did you know, Researchers have found a connection between happiness and the performance of selfless acts?!? Giving to others, they say, activates an area of the brain linked with contentment and the reward cycle.  We hope you consider generously donating non-perishable foods this year to help those in our community who need help.  More information will be coming home with your child.

Prepared For Winter Sports?

Is your child planning to go out for a winter sport? River View Middle School offers boys basketball, wrestling, and girls basketball during the winter months. If your child is planning to participate we want to remind you that prior to practice starting your child must have an alternate year card or a physical form filled out by a doctor in order to participate. If you are not sure which form your child needs please call the main office at River View and we will help you. Please have your child pick up the forms in the main office at River View or on our website under Middle School Forms.

If you are participating in a Spring sport or Running Club (5th grade-Spring) you will need to make sure you have your physical or alternate year card on file before you can participate.  Please contact Sue Vanevenhoven in the RV office if you have questions about which form you need to have completed.  If you are still interested in signing up for wrestling or girls basketball please use the following link: https://forms.gle/xU8WVCrkr5Jr23mr8

Ski club will run again this school year!

Sign up will be coming soon and will be sent out through Infinite Campus so please watch your

inbox for a sign up email.  Due to some specific transportation and supervision circumstances, Ski Club will operate on a first sign up, first served

basis this year for grades 5-8.  We will start a waiting list once we are at full capacity.  We will let you know if you are on the wait list.

The dates for Ski Club are:

January 6, 2022

January 20, 2022

February 3rd, 2022

February 10, 2022.

Location: Nordic Mountain

Cost - Varies - more information to come.  Generally, if you need to rent equipment, you pay for that, everyone pays for the shared cost of the bus, and everyone who needs a lift ticket buys a 4 pack of passes covering you for all of the trips.  This is where we are given a deal.  You can not purchase a lift ticket for just one night, you must purchase the package deal.  You do not have to GO all 4 nights but you do pay the package price.  Not going one night also is non-transferable meaning you can not split this with a friend/other person. This is not the same as purchasing a "season pass" from the ski resort so please understand that. You may purchase that on your own, and still go with us, but you will pay for the transportation in that situation.  You would still need to sign up when the sign up comes out.

Please watch your email for a sign up Google form in the coming weeks.
