October Newsletter 2021

From the Desktop of Mr. Cromell

We’ve now made it through the first month of school, and we are so proud of our students and families for their engagement and participation. More busy times are ahead, so I just want to take this opportunity to make a few general announcements.

  1. Our parking lot is a hectic place immediately before and after school, especially with the  current construction on Island Street.  While we certainly value convenience for our families, our top priority is always student safety. Please make sure to review past communications about parking lot protocol, and make sure to follow the guidelines as you navigate the school zone before and after school. We will have our staff and crossing guards checking for safety concerns, so please understand this is to ensure student safety and not intended to inconvenience our families.

  1. Forward exam scores from last year should now be in the hands of parents. If you have not received your child’s score report, please contact the office and we will provide assistance.

  2. PAC Meetings are on the last Tuesday of each month in the RV Library at 5:00 p.m. Participation is encouraged as a way to get involved in your child’s education. The next meeting is on Tuesday, October 26.

  3. River View is a large school with endless opportunities to grow, develop, participate, and get involved. With so many things happening each day, streamlining relevant communication is very important to us. Please remember to review the following communication tools frequently so that you can stay in the know:

  • IC Messenger communications go directly to your email inbox.

  • The monthly newsletter link is sent out through IC Messenger, and is always available on the River View website.

  • Infinite Campus Parent Portal contains our daily announcements. There is also an Infinite Campus app available that allows quick and easy access.

  • The River View webpage contains calendars, useful information, and there is even a link to our daily announcement slideshow available on the RV library website.

We want to thank our students and families for a great start to the year.  We look forward to communicating with you regularly as we work together to make a positive impact on every RV student.

Thanks,

Luke Cromell

Principal

What Parents Need to Know About

Eighth Grade Academic and Career Planning Meetings

A message from Mrs. Hinz, School Counselor (grade 8)

One of the key components to the Wisconsin School Counseling curriculum is to have eighth-graders and their parents participate in an Eighth Grade Academic and Career Planning Meeting.

The Eighth Grade Academic and Career Planning Meetings are individual meetings for parents/guardians and students to meet with the 8th-grade school counselor to discuss the student’s hopes and dreams, possible future goals, and discuss the transition to Kaukauna High School.

I will be holding meetings several times a day.  I ask that parents attend their child’s meeting virtually, and their 8th grader will be attending the meeting in my office with me.

I will be sending out a sign-up genius link via email for parents to sign up for a time in the next couple of weeks.  The meeting will be about 30 minutes long. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
